Toulouse is Airbus’s home city, a centre of French aerospace and space, and a university city with 120,000 students. Engineers, researchers and graduates compete for many of the same roles, and a clean, professional photo helps on a CV and on LinkedIn. Here is when a photo makes sense, which style fits which employer, what Toulouse photographers charge, and a faster alternative.

Do you need a photo on your CV in Toulouse?

Legally, no. No French law requires a photo on a CV. Service-Public, the French administration’s official information site, states that the information requested from a candidate “must only allow their skills to be assessed”, and lists physical appearance among the 25 grounds of discrimination prohibited at work, recruitment included. Indeed’s French career guide agrees that a CV photo is “in no way an obligation”.

So the photo is your decision. If you add one, make it a recent, professional head-and-shoulders portrait; if you have no good photo, leave it out. The national rules (law, format, placement, data protection) are in our guide to professional headshots in France.

If you are an international engineer or researcher moving to Toulouse, note that large aerospace groups recruit through their own careers sites: follow the instructions there and in the ad. Elsewhere, on LinkedIn, Indeed, APEC or France Travail, a good photo is a plus but not expected. Recruiters will check your LinkedIn profile, so use the same photo there.

What CV photo style works in Toulouse

According to Insee’s 2023 census, the city of Toulouse had 514,819 inhabitants and 358,741 jobs:

  • 57.5% of jobs were in commerce, transport and services, 28.5% in public administration, education, health and social work, and 8.0% in industry, more than in Lyon (6.9%) or Marseille (4.9%).
  • Managers and professionals (cadres) held 35.2% of the jobs located in Toulouse: many applications are for engineering and other qualified roles.
  • Unemployment (census definition, ages 15 to 64) was 14.3% in 2023.

Aerospace dominates the private sector. Invest in Toulouse, the metropolitan investment agency, counts about 65,000 aeronautics jobs in Toulouse and says the city receives 25% of French aeronautics R&D investment. Airbus has its headquarters there; it employs more than 56,000 people in France and says its Toulouse site is the country’s largest industrial site, with the A350 final assembly line next to Toulouse-Blagnac airport. The agency also names ATR, Safran, Collins Aerospace, Latécoère, Liebherr, Thales and Daher.

Health and research form the second pillar. The agency lists 22,000 researchers and 400 research units, the IUCT-Oncopole cancer centre (with the Institut Claudius Regaud, the CHU de Toulouse and Paul Sabatier University), Pierre Fabre, with about 1,000 staff at its R&D campus, and Evotec, which inaugurated a biologics production plant in Toulouse in 2024.

A CV photo without a photographer

If the deadline is tonight, LinkPro turns your phone into a studio:

  1. Take 8 guided selfies. On-device face detection checks your distance, angle and light live.
  2. Direct your shoot. Choose your field, a studio or office backdrop and a formal or business casual outfit, for example business casual for an engineering role and formal for a corporate or finance role.
  3. Get your headshots in seconds, then pick the most natural one.
  4. Let friends or colleagues vote with a poll link before you send your application.

LinkPro is a web app: open it in your browser at app.linkproapp.ai, on your phone or a computer, in English, French, German or Italian. Your first session is free, with 3 watermarked previews and no account. To keep one headshot in HD without watermark, buy it as a single one-time purchase, with no subscription; for more looks, LinkPro Unlimited is a weekly subscription with unlimited sessions and restyles, cancel anytime. Prices are shown in the app.

Your selfies are not kept on our servers after generation, your headshots are stored on your device, and your images are never sold or used to train AI models (see our privacy policy).

Be honest about the result: the photo must look natural and like you today. Some career advisers, such as a German Federal Employment Agency guide, warn that AI-edited photos can look artificial; if a result looks too smooth, pick another or book a photographer. Compare both in AI headshot vs photographer. A LinkPro photo cannot be used for a passport or ID card, which require biometric photos.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a CV photo cost in Toulouse?

In October 2026, Sylvain Gelineau published a 45-minute session at €90 plus €30 per retouched photo, Studio Le Carré a studio fee of €90 plus €50 per person and €10 per retouched photo (excluding VAT), and Photographes Toulouse an outdoor session with 20 retouched photos for €145. In Roquettes, about 20 minutes away, Studio Emilie Colusso offered an unretouched CV photo for €20 and a portrait session with one retouched photo for €89.

Do I need a photo on my CV to apply to Airbus or another aerospace company?

No French law requires one. The French administration's Service-Public site says the information asked of a candidate must only help assess their skills. Large groups recruit through their own careers sites: follow the instructions there and in the ad. Recruiters will still look at your LinkedIn profile, so a professional photo there is worth having.

What should I wear for a CV photo for an engineering job in Toulouse?

For engineering and technical roles in aerospace, a blazer without a tie or a smart shirt is usually enough. For corporate, finance or customer-facing roles, a classic blazer and plain shirt or blouse. Keep a neutral background and a head-and-shoulders crop.

Can I rent a studio in Toulouse and take the photo myself?

Yes. In October 2026, Atelier Brooklyn in the Saint-Aubin district advertised studio hire from €25 an hour for personal projects. You will need someone to take the photo, a camera or a good phone, and some practice with light.

Can I use an AI headshot for a job in Toulouse?

There is no rule against it, but the photo must look natural and show you as you are today. Some career advisers warn that AI-edited photos can look artificial. Choose the most realistic result, and never use it for a passport or ID card, which require biometric photos.
