Lille is the home of some of France’s best-known retail groups, a large university hospital, a digital scene built around EuraTechnologies, and a border with Belgium a few kilometres away. A CV photo for a head office in the metropolitan area does not have to look like one for a bank. Here is when a photo makes sense, which style fits which employer, what Lille studios charge, and how to get a natural headshot without booking a session.

Do you need a photo on your CV in Lille?

Legally, no. No French law requires a photo on a CV. Article L1221-6 of the Labour Code says the information an employer asks of a candidate must have “a direct and necessary link” with the job, and article L1132-1 lists physical appearance among the grounds on which no candidate may be excluded from a recruitment.

A photo is therefore your choice, and if you come from a country where CVs carry none, such as the UK or the US, you can keep that habit. If you add one, it should help you: recent, professional and identical to your LinkedIn picture, because recruiters will look you up there anyway. A poor photo does more harm than no photo. The national rules (law, format, placement, data protection) are in our guide to professional headshots in France.

Lille also looks across the border. According to INSEE, about 6,600 people living in the Lille employment zone worked in another country in 2021, most often in the Tournai-Mouscron area of Belgium (2,800), and about 10,500 did so from the neighbouring Roubaix-Tourcoing zone. If you apply to a Belgian employer, follow the ad and the company’s own habits.

What CV photo style works in Lille

Hello Lille, the metropolitan area’s attractiveness agency, counts 80 head offices with more than 500 employees, among them Auchan, Adeo-Leroy Merlin, Decathlon, Roquette, Lesaffre, Bonduelle, Boulanger, Worldline and Mobivia-Norauto. Its key sectors are retail, digital, industry, cultural and creative industries, health and nutrition, and cybersecurity. Health is also a major employer in its own right: the CHU de Lille describes a community of nearly 16,000 professionals, one of the largest health campuses in Northern Europe.

Job ads appear on national sites such as France Travail, Apec (for managers), Indeed and LinkedIn; on LinkedIn, your photo is the first thing a recruiter sees. Keep it simple: a head-and-shoulders crop, a friendly expression and a photo less than a year old. Applying in Paris as well? See our page on CV photos in Paris. How much does a CV photo cost in Lille?

Published prices, October 2026:

Franck Barrières (Saint-André-lez-Lille)Express: 15 to 20 minutes, 1 retouched HD photo on white; Classique €120 (2 photos, choice of background); Premium €175 (5 photos)€90

In short, a quick CV photo costs about €40 to €49 in Lille, with one to three files. Expect €75 to €120 for two photos and more time or retouching, and €175 for a five-photo package.

Watch for the costs that are not in the headline price:

  • Files sold separately. At Au Labo de Lille, the session price does not include files: each digital file costs €10, so one photo comes to €40.
  • Retouching. Compare what “retouched” means: Franck Barrières includes retouched HD files in every package, while Au Labo de Lille mentions a few small retouches on request.
  • Location. Franck Barrières’ home studio is in Saint-André-lez-Lille, about five minutes from Lille by car, by appointment only; Louis Latouche comes to you, which suits a small team.

Your selfies are not kept on our servers after generation, your headshots are stored on your device, and your images are never sold or used to train AI models. You can delete your account and photos (see our privacy policy).

Be honest with yourself about the result: the photo must look natural and like you today. Some career advisers warn that AI-edited photos can look artificial, so for a conservative employer a classic studio photo may still be the safer choice. For a side-by-side comparison, read AI headshot vs photographer. A LinkPro photo cannot be used for a passport or ID card, which require biometric photos.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a CV photo cost in Lille?

In October 2026, Au Labo de Lille charged €30 for a 10 to 15-minute session plus €10 per digital file, and Kodak Express Lille €49 for 15 minutes with three digital photos. Louis Latouche's mobile studio charged €75 for 45 minutes with two HD photos, and Franck Barrières in Saint-André-lez-Lille €90 for one retouched photo, €120 for two and €175 for five.

Do I need a photo on my CV to apply for jobs in Lille?

No. No French law requires one, and the Labour Code says the information an employer asks of a candidate must have a direct and necessary link with the job. Physical appearance is one of the grounds of discrimination it prohibits. A photo is your choice; if you add one, make it professional and use the same one on LinkedIn.

What should I wear for a CV photo for Decathlon, Auchan or Leroy Merlin?

Retail head offices are generally less formal than banks: a shirt, blouse or fine knit, with or without an unstructured jacket, works for most roles. For finance, legal or senior management roles, a blazer is the safer choice. Keep a plain, light background.

Can I use an AI headshot for a job in Lille?

There is no rule against it, but the photo must look natural and show you as you are today. Some career advisers warn that AI-edited photos can look artificial. Choose the most realistic result, and never use it for a passport or ID card, which require biometric photos.
