Florence lives on tourism, but it is also a fashion capital, a base for engineering and pharmaceutical groups, and home to a European university. Each of these employers reads a CV photo slightly differently. Here is what a CV photo costs in Florence, which style fits which sector, and how to get a natural portrait without booking a session.

Do you need a photo on your CV in Florence?

Legally, no. Adecco writes that a photo on an Italian CV “is not mandatory”, but that including one is “common practice and often welcomed” by recruiters. Gi Group, another large Italian recruitment agency, calls it a habit that Italian companies appreciate. Place it at the top of the CV, next to your contact details; on a Europass CV, Adecco puts it in the top left corner. The national rules (format, placement, data protection) are in our guide to professional headshots in Italy.

As an international applicant in Florence, separate two cases:

  • Italian-language applications to fashion houses, hotels, banks or manufacturers: include a recent, professional photo unless the ad says otherwise.
  • English-language applications to international institutions, research centres or US university programmes: follow the ad. Gi Group notes that photos are uncommon, even discouraged, in some English-speaking countries such as the US.

Whatever you send, recruiters will also look you up on LinkedIn, so use the same photo there and on job portals such as Indeed or InfoJobs.

What CV photo style works in Florence

Tourism is by far the city’s most important industry, but the local economy is broader than the postcards. Florence is the home of fashion houses such as Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Emilio Pucci and Roberto Cavalli, of the Pitti Immagine trade fairs and of the Polimoda fashion school. Nuovo Pignone (Baker Hughes) and Officine Galileo represent specialised engineering; Eli Lilly and Menarini represent pharmaceuticals; Banca CR Firenze and Findomestic represent banking and consumer credit.

Florence is also international. The European University Institute, an intergovernmental postgraduate university in the hills of San Domenico di Fiesole, counts more than 2,000 people from over 100 countries, and several US universities, including NYU and Stanford, run campuses in the city.

The regional job market is relatively strong: Tuscany’s unemployment rate was 4.3% in 2025, against 6.1% for Italy as a whole (Eurostat). Competition for good roles is real, and a clean photo helps.

Whatever the sector, keep it simple: head and shoulders, a recent photo and no selfie, which Adecco lists among the photos to avoid. Our guide on what to wear for a professional headshot covers colours and fabrics.

How much does a CV photo cost in Florence?

Few studios in Florence publish a price for a CV portrait: most quote on request. Here is what was published, October 2026:

ProviderWhat you getPrice
Il Fotoamatore (Via Panciatichi, near Firenze Rifredi station)4 ID-style prints (fototessere); 4+4 prints for €12€9
Snappr (online platform)Portrait photographer in Florence, booked onlineFrom €99
Digimodels (Piazza Paolo Uccello)Outdoor portfolio shoot, 100 shots, up to 4 retouched; studio packages from €300€150
Timmi Studio (Via Pisana)Business headshots for LinkedIn and CVOn request

In short, the cheapest route is an ID-style print at about €9, which gives you a document-style photo rather than a portrait. A real portrait session with a photographer starts at around €99 to €150. For context, Cronoshare puts the average hourly rate of a photographer in Florence at €70 to €100.

Watch for the costs that are not in the headline price:

  • Quote first. Studios that offer business headshots, such as Timmi Studio, do not publish prices: you have to write or call and wait for an answer.
  • More than you need. A portfolio package with 100 shots is built for models and actors; for a CV, you only need one or two good portraits.
  • Time. Add the wait for a reply, the trip across town and the wait for your files.

A CV photo without a photographer

If you need a photo tonight, or you have just moved to Florence and don’t know a studio yet, LinkPro turns your phone into one:

  1. Take 8 guided selfies. On-device face detection checks your distance, angle and light live.
  2. Direct your shoot. Choose your field, a studio or office backdrop and a formal or business casual outfit, for example formal for a bank and business casual for a research role.
  3. Get your headshots in seconds and pick the most natural one.
  4. Let friends or colleagues vote with a poll link before you send your application.

LinkPro is a web app: open it in your browser at app.linkproapp.ai, on your phone or your computer, in English, Italian, French or German. Nothing to install. Your first session is a free preview, with 3 watermarked previews and no account. Then you can buy a single headshot, a one-time purchase that unlocks one HD headshot of your choice without a watermark, with no subscription, or choose LinkPro Unlimited, a weekly subscription you can cancel anytime. Your selfies are not kept on our servers after generation, your headshots are stored on your device, and your images are never sold or used to train AI models (see our privacy policy).

Be honest with yourself about the result: the photo must look natural and like you today. In a conservative sector, a classic studio portrait may still feel safer; our comparison of an AI headshot vs a photographer helps you decide. A LinkPro photo cannot be used for a passport or ID card, which require biometric photos. Applying in Emilia-Romagna too? See our page on CV photos in Bologna.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a CV photo cost in Florence?

Few Florence studios publish a price for a CV portrait. In October 2026, Il Fotoamatore near Firenze Rifredi station charged €9 for four ID-style prints, Snappr advertised portrait photographers in Florence from €99, and Digimodels' cheapest portfolio session was €150 for up to 4 retouched photos. Studios that offer business headshots, such as Timmi Studio, quote on request.

Do I need a photo on my CV to apply for jobs in Florence?

No law requires one. Adecco says a photo on an Italian CV is not mandatory but is common practice and often welcomed by recruiters. For applications in English to international institutions or companies, follow the job ad: Gi Group notes that photos are uncommon, even discouraged, in some English-speaking countries such as the US.

What should I wear for a CV photo for a fashion house in Florence?

Fashion employers such as Gucci, Ferragamo or Pucci look at style as well as content, so a well-cut, simple outfit in neutral colours works better than a logo-heavy look. Keep the background plain and the framing head and shoulders. For engineering, pharma or banking roles, a blazer and a plain shirt or blouse remain the safe choice.

Can I use an AI headshot for a job in Florence?

There is no rule against it, but the photo must look natural and like you today. Italian recruitment agencies warn against selfies, so the result has to look like a real portrait, not a filtered snapshot. An AI headshot cannot be used for a passport or ID card, which require biometric photos.
