CV photo in Turin: prices, studios and tips

Turin is the historic home of Italy’s car industry, but its job market is now just as much about aerospace, banking, food brands and digital services. An engineer applying to an automotive supplier and an analyst applying to a bank will not need the same photo. Here is what Turin studios charge, which style fits which employer, and how to get a natural photo without booking a session.
Do you need a photo on your CV in Turin?
Legally, no. Italian law bans any discrimination in access to employment, including in selection criteria (article 27 of the Equal Opportunities Code, Legislative Decree 198/2006), and employment agencies may not pre-select candidates on grounds such as age, sex or origin (article 10 of Legislative Decree 276/2003). Nothing requires a photo. In practice, many Italian candidates add one, and the EU’s Europass CV editor suggests you “add a professional photo”. The national rules, format and placement are in our guide to professional headshots in Italy.
Turin is also an international job market. According to the Turin Chamber of Commerce, about 1,300 foreign-controlled companies operate in Piedmont and employ around 183,000 people. Their parent companies are mostly French (20%), German (19%) and American (12%). If you apply in English or French to one of them, follow the ad: some international groups prefer a CV without a photo.
What CV photo style works in Turin
Piedmont’s unemployment rate was 6.0% in 2025, close to the Italian average of 6.1%, according to Eurostat. The province of Turin counted 221,224 registered businesses at the end of 2025: business services were the largest group (27.4%), ahead of commerce (23.2%), while manufacturing accounted for 8.6%. Its 1,892 companies with a turnover above €5 million employed 320,857 people in 2023, 24% more than in 2014.
Automotive is still the largest sector among foreign-owned firms in Piedmont (31.8%), with aerospace, rail and shipbuilding at 11.5%. Turin is home to Stellantis’s historic Mirafiori site, the headquarters of Intesa Sanpaolo, Reale Mutua and Lavazza, and the Politecnico di Torino, one of Italy’s main engineering universities.
The Excelsior survey of the chambers of commerce shows where the hiring is. Employers in the province planned 167,520 hires in 2025 and described 47% of them as hard to fill. Technical professions (29,120 planned hires) were hard to fill in 53.5% of cases, skilled workers in 66.5%, and managers and specialists (12,700) in 52%. In such a market, a clean, professional photo helps you stand out among the candidates who do apply.
| Sector | Typical employers | Outfit | Background |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automotive, aerospace, engineering | Stellantis, automotive suppliers, aerospace companies | Blazer without tie, or a smart shirt | Neutral studio or light, blurred office |
| Banking and insurance | Intesa Sanpaolo, Reale Mutua | Dark suit or blazer, plain shirt or blouse | Plain grey, white or light blue |
| Food, consumer brands, hospitality | Lavazza and other food brands, hotels, tourism | Smart casual, neat and simple | Plain light backdrop |
| Software and digital services | IT consultancies, start-ups | Business casual: shirt, knit, unstructured blazer | Light office or plain backdrop |
Whatever the sector, keep it simple: a head-and-shoulders crop, a friendly expression and a recent photo. Use the same picture on LinkedIn. Our guides on what to wear for a professional headshot and LinkedIn profile picture tips go into more detail.

- Outfits. Photoboutique’s €100 portrait includes no outfit change. If you want a formal and a relaxed version, choose a longer session.
- Time. Delivery ranges from 1 or 2 days to 15 working days. Check before an application deadline.
