# CV photo in Rome: prices, studios and tips

Updated October 15, 2026 · 6 min read

Short answer

No Italian law requires a photo on a CV, but most Italian CVs include one and Europass recommends adding a professional photo. In Rome, published studio prices in October 2026 started at €57 for a short session and €90 to €97 for one or two retouched portraits; executive sessions start at €250. Match the style to the employer: formal for energy, banking and ministries, smart for UN agencies, business casual for media and tech.

Rome is Italy’s capital: the seat of the ministries, the head offices of groups such as Eni, Enel, Poste Italiane and Ferrovie dello Stato, and home to three UN food and agriculture agencies. Each of these worlds has its own idea of a good CV photo. Here is what Rome’s studios charge, which style suits which employer, and how to get a natural portrait without booking a session.

## Do you need a photo on your CV in Rome?

Legally, no. No Italian law requires a photo, and the Workers’ Statute (_Statuto dei lavoratori_, article 8) bars employers from investigating facts that are irrelevant to your professional aptitude, while article 10 of Legislative Decree 276/2003 bars employment agencies from screening candidates by age, sex, ethnic origin and other personal traits. In practice, the photo is the norm: CV builder Jobseeker notes that in Italy it is “almost always included”, and the EU’s own Europass CV builder advises you to “add a professional photo of yourself”. The full national rules are in our [guide to professional headshots in Italy](/guides/professional-headshots-italy/).

If you are an international candidate in Rome, separate three cases:

- **Italian-language applications** to companies, banks or agencies: include a recent, professional photo at the top of your CV.
- **Public-sector jobs** (_concorsi_): you apply to a call (_bando_) published on [inPA](https://www.inpa.gov.it/), the government’s recruitment portal, where you register by filling in your CV on the platform. Follow the call’s instructions.
- **English-language applications** to UN agencies or global firms: use their application system and follow its instructions on photos.

Whatever you send, recruiters will also look you up on LinkedIn, which had 25.0 million members in Italy in late 2025 according to DataReportal. InfoJobs, long one of Italy’s main job boards, closed its Italian site at the end of 2025, so older advice to post your CV there is out of date.

## What CV photo style works in Rome

Rome’s labour market is overwhelmingly service-based. In the September 2026 Excelsior survey of the Chamber of Commerce system, companies in the province of Rome planned 47,830 hires for the month and 131,680 for September to November. 85.1% of those hires were in services, and 30.0% were for managers, specialists and technicians, well above the national average of 21.0%. The fastest-growing sectors were advanced business services, construction, and IT and telecommunications; among graduate jobs, demand grew most for engineers and architects, health and life-science technicians, and ICT specialists.

| Sector | Typical employers | Outfit | Background |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Energy, telecoms, banking, consulting | Eni, Enel, TIM, BNL and consulting firms | Dark suit or blazer, plain shirt or blouse, tie optional | Plain grey, white or light blue |
| Rail, post, defence and public sector | Ferrovie dello Stato, Poste Italiane, Leonardo, ministries | Formal: blazer, plain shirt or blouse | Neutral studio |
| International organisations | FAO, IFAD, WFP and the missions around them | Smart and understated, as for the interview | Neutral studio or softly blurred office |
| Media, film and tourism | RAI, Cinecittà productions, hotels and agencies | Business casual with some personality | Light office or plain backdrop |
| Tech and aerospace | Firms in the Tiburtina Valley, ICT companies | Blazer without tie, or a smart shirt | Light office or plain backdrop |

Whatever the sector, keep it simple: head and shoulders, a friendly expression, good light and no filters. Our guide on [what to wear for a professional headshot](/guides/what-to-wear-for-a-professional-headshot/) goes into colours and fabrics.

## How much does a CV photo cost in Rome?

| [Elio Carchidi](https://www.eliocarchidi.com/foto-ritratto-prezzi) (Via Sicilia, near Villa Borghese) | Base session: 60 minutes, aimed at LinkedIn and corporate portraits; fuller sessions from €500 and €800 | from €250 |

In short, a CV or LinkedIn portrait costs €57 to €97 in Rome for a short session, €90 to €150 with two to six retouched photos, and from €250 with an executive portrait studio. For comparison, the marketplace ProntoPro puts the average photographer job in Rome at €120 to €250.

Watch for the costs that are not in the headline price:

- **Retouching.** Studio154’s €57 Quickshoot includes no retouching; retouched files start with the €97 Basic package.
- **Extras.** Elio Carchidi excludes make-up, hair and styling, prints and RAW files, and adds a €2 stamp duty on private clients’ receipts. His older CV page still lists a €197 package, so confirm the price when you book.
- **Time.** Add the trip across a large city and the wait for a slot before a deadline.

## A CV photo without a photographer

If you need a photo tonight, or you have just moved to Rome and haven’t found a studio yet, LinkPro turns your phone into one:

1. **Take 8 guided selfies.** On-device face detection checks your distance, angle and light live.
2. **Direct your shoot.** Choose your field, a studio or office backdrop and a formal or business casual outfit, for example formal for an energy group and business casual for a media company.
3. **Get your headshots in seconds** and pick the most natural one.
4. **Let friends or colleagues vote** with a poll link before you send your application.

LinkPro is a web app: open it in your browser at [app.linkproapp.ai](https://app.linkproapp.ai), on your phone or your computer, in English, Italian, French or German. Nothing to install. Your first session is a free preview, with 3 watermarked previews and no account. Then you can buy a single headshot, a one-time purchase that unlocks one HD headshot of your choice without a watermark and with no subscription, or choose LinkPro Unlimited, a weekly subscription you can cancel anytime. Your selfies are not kept on our servers after generation, your headshots are stored on your device, and your images are never sold or used to train AI models (see our [privacy policy](/privacy/)).

Be honest with yourself about the result: the photo must look natural and like you today. Some career advisers warn that AI-edited photos can look artificial, so in a formal sector a classic studio portrait may still feel safer; our comparison of an [AI headshot vs a photographer](/guides/ai-headshot-vs-photographer/) helps you decide. A LinkPro photo cannot be used for a passport or identity card, which require biometric photos. Applying in Milan too? See our page on [CV photos in Milan](/guides/cv-photo-milan/).

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does a CV photo cost in Rome?

In October 2026, Rome studios published prices from €57 (Studio154, a 15-minute session without retouching) and €90 to €97 for a session with one or two retouched portraits (Fotomonteverde, CSI Studio, Studio154). Packages with six retouched photos cost about €150, and Elio Carchidi's executive portrait sessions start at €250.

### Do I need a photo on my CV to apply for jobs in Rome?

No law requires one, and Italian law bars employers and agencies from screening candidates on traits that are irrelevant to the job. In practice, most Italian CVs include a photo, and the EU's Europass CV builder recommends adding a professional one. If an international employer asks for a CV without a photo, follow its instructions.

### What should I wear for a CV photo for Eni, Enel or a ministry?

Energy groups, banks, large national groups and the public administration are formal environments: a dark suit or blazer, a plain shirt or blouse and a calm grey or white background. For media, film or tech roles, business casual works. For a UN agency, dress as you would for the interview and follow the application system's instructions.

### Do I need a CV photo for a public-sector job (concorso) in Rome?

Public-sector recruitment in Italy runs through calls (bandi) published on inPA, the government's recruitment portal, where you register by filling in your CV on the platform. Follow each call's instructions. Your photo still matters for private employers and for LinkedIn.

### Can I use an AI headshot for a job in Rome?

There is no rule against it, but the photo must look natural and show you as you are today. Some career advisers warn that AI-edited photos can look artificial, so pick the most realistic result. Never use it for a passport or an identity card, which require biometric photos.
